Diablo 2 Mercenary Runewords

Diablo 2 mercenaries, also known as hirelings, provide aid to players throughout gameplay. They follow the player around within a specific radius and help in fighting and killing monsters. Mercenaries are also vulnerable to getting attacked and killed. In the Classic version of Diablo 2, mercenaries could not go beyond the act they were hired in.

Several changes were made in the Expansion sequel with mercenaries and players. Firstly, mercenaries can accompany players throughout all acts and difficulties. They can also level up and get enhanced stats and items to further help the players throughout gameplay.

The following is a list of weapon rune words in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. Each functions in nonmagic weapons of the given types with exactly the required number of sockets. The existing bonuses on weapons persist after adding the Rune Word and may sum up in total. For example, all generic Scepters already include '+50% Damage to Undead' bonus and it adds up with King's Grace Rune Word. Jul 03, 2020  Doom is a rune word which provides Level 12 Holy Freeze aura. It is mostly used by Act 2 Mercenaries on Polearms to make up for a combo of Holy Freeze + Might for example. Some melee druid builds are also using it in a Thunder Maul or Berserker Axe base. Doom can achieve 1000+ max damage in Cryptic Axe and Colossus Voulge. The following changes have been made to mercenaries in Path of Diablo. Unless otherwise noted, Mercenary auras max out at level 18. Mercenaries hired from Normal difficulty have better stats than those hired from Nightmare or Hell. Now attacks with Fire Arrow (has been reworked). Now has Inner Sight (has been reworked).

Mercenary / Hireling Equipment

Almost all hirelings can assist the player by equipping helms and armor. Other arms can be equipped depending on the type of hireling. The Barbarian is the only hireling who can equip class-specific items such as Barbarian Helms and armor because of Barbarian class requirements. Other mercenaries cannot be equipped with rings, amulets, boots, gloves or other class-specific items.

Mercenaries: Act 2 Mercenaries are recommended for every hardcore build. For act 2 mercenaries use the following in single player: Helm: Tal-Rasha's Helm, Vampire Gaze, Any life leech, damage reduction, or all resistance helm. Weapon: Honor Runeword, Blackleech Blade (for the weaken curse), Hone Sundan, or any elite polearm/spear. Your mercenary will use a weapon which gives us lots of mana, allowing us to teleport and use our hammers without waiting to regenerate Mana. The weapon is a rune word called “Insight“. The best Armour for a Hammerdin mercenary is the runeword “Fortitude” which gives him huge damage and defense bonuses. Fortitude runeword combined with.

Diablo

Mercenaries can follow a player through portals and waypoints.

Yes, they do.

  1. Can mercenaries reduce your experience?

No, you do not get any less experience for using a mercenary.

Players cannot dismiss mercenaries. In order to get rid of a mercenary, a player would require the assistance of another player to kill them. Players can also lead their mercenaries into danger so they can get killed on purpose.

This article is about the mercenaries from Diablo II. Were you looking for the Diablo III Followers?

Hirelings are mercenaries that can be hired to aid the player during the course of the game. In Diablo II Classic they were temporary companions that could be hired to accompany the player throughout one act. The Rogue and Iron Wolf could also be obtained as quest rewards. However, hirelings did not follow the player outside the acts they were hired in.

In the Lord of Destruction expansion pack, Hirelings were improved with radical changes. They could level up along with the player and accompany them throughout all acts and difficulties. They also had a new stats screen and the player could equip them with items to further enhance their stats. All hirelings can equip body armor and helms, and different weapon types can be equipped depending on the hireling (listed below). Hirelings are not able to equip Class-specific Items, with the exception of the Barbarian who can equip Barbarian Helms and armor that has the Barbarian class requirement (such as the body armor with the 'Myth' runeword enchantment). No hireling can be equipped with rings, amulets, boots, gloves, or belts.

To heal a hireling, click and drag a health potion onto your hireling's portrait in the upper left corner of the game screen or press Shift and right-click the potion to instantly give it to him/her. Hirelings are also healed if you talk to a healer in town.

Rumors

Diablo 2 4 Socket Weapon Runewords

The lack of an Act IV Hireling led to rather ridiculous speculations related to a non-existent hidden Act IV Hireling: The Angel. The Angel was described to use Hadriel's base structure and did not walk, but levitated above the ground. They were said to use Cold and Lightning Spells. It was even said that the Angel was showcased by the presence of Hadriel. Because these rumors spread before the expansion, there are no details on what they could equip.

The rumors said that the Angel could be obtained by completing certain meaningless tasks, mostly on Hell difficulty. They included:

  • Talking to Hadriel or Tyrael a certain number of times
  • Defeating Diablo in Hell difficulty a certain number of times
  • Defeating the The Cow King a certain number of times (requires another player's aid because the Secret Cow Level portal cannot be reopened by the character who killed the King)
  • Giving the Jade Figurine/Golden Bird to Tyrael or Hadriel
  • Not talking to Tyrael after freeing him in Tal Rasha's Chamber (you cannot complete Act II without talking to him)
